Thank you for remembering Gertrude Stein. Using minimal words to point to the indescribable beauty and mystery of life. Gertrude is a genius, and so are you all and so are we all.
An amazing experience most enjoyable.
How lovely, how strange
Beautiful, bellisimo, the music fantastic and the food too! Thank you!
A lovely humorous piece, thank you. Everyone needs a tiny taste of the food at the end!
Unusual performance and food preparation intriguing - we were looking forward to tasting and it was delicious.
The performance is wonderful and the food is great!!
Really enjoyed it so much!
What a wonderful piece to come to the church for. Such a treat for all of the senses. Poetic and uplifting. You make a great team. Thank you for this. ❤️
This was an amazing touch of a variety of media - influencing our senses - word, music, smell and even taste at the end - excellent! I liked the 'waby' aspect, humor behind the seriousness, was close to my heart. as I am from Central Europe originally so was not so 'weird' but definitely different and very refreshing to see - thanks for all your effort - much luck on your tour! ❤️

First experience of avant-garde/alternative/improvised music and arts (cooking 😊) combined. Slightly caught "off guard" but once settled, appreciated the talent and creativity! Thank you x
A fantastic musical and dramatic piece - inspiring and complex.

We are so pleased many members of our regular audience here came to see 'Rose...' something beyond most of our experience, and so entertaining and edifying and mystifying in equal doses. And they were lovely guests, we had fun!

Call Caroline Wiseman: 01728 452 754 or email: [email protected] Audience written comments: Came I came came from I came from Wales for this - and loved it! Completely different, amusing, original, witty and beautifully presented. A wonderfully different sound and music and vocal experience. A very striking and gripping introduction (for me) to the life and inner world of Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas...something about the cooking, it's mundanity as well as it's aromas, drew the disparate elements together and left me feeling like I knew these women! Extraordinary .. Thank you. The universal appeal of Stein with the daily routine/process of preparing and cooking food, percussive, sensory and uniquely moving in a domestic setting. The score - perusing it after the performance - equally fascinating. |
The piece had great energy and the vocalisations were all the more effective with the singer's cold-affected voice.
'whisper this whisper the sea calm inside. me. whisper me.' I have now sat with genius! - thank you. when is a fish not a fish when it's a work of art great fun - thanks so much. Extraordinary! Brilliant! Thank you so much for being here. Having not known a lot about the story of Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas, I found the whole performance fascinating - to have the unusual combination of live music, cooking and reciting in perfect synchronicity was impressive. And I had never seen a piano played in that way before, amazingly subtle. Delicious food too! The Aldeburgh Beach Lookout is a tiny temple by the sea. Isolated yet at the heart of cultural innovation, it is a magical and stimulating setting for artists to respond each in their own fascinating way. Each weekly artists residency culminates in an exhibition of brand new work. The Art House has a large and constantly changing selection of paintings, sculpture, drawings and original prints by important British and International artists. |

A delight. Moving. Must read Gertrude Stein now. 'I am I because my little dog knows me.'
I think I should have enjoyed it more if I had read some of Gertrude Stein's writings before.
A challenge for the ears, eyes and senses - stimulating!
Must learn more about G.S. - and make greater efforts wth my cooking. Food was delicious. Enjoyed the musical sound effects.
